Only compare myself to myself

I have compared myself and what I know about writing to others.

Some really write engagingly, full of statistics and quotes--so professional. Some are really humorous and deep... in the same blog post.

Suffice it to say, by comparing myself to others, I did not engage in the actual act of writing, nor of practice writing so I could get better. I gave up.

So, I can compare myself to where I was four years ago.

I show up in the moment, am myself, am loving, spread peace and joy. That is a good life,  a well-ordered life, all done without comparing myself to others.

It is not the anxious life of a compare-er. It is the happy life of someone who is changing and taking risks, making things happen.

Interestingly, those habits make me better, happier, and more joyful.
